My trusty old won’t die back up car is a 2004 Ford Escape AWD and I cannot get a rotary blade coupler. No longer made, used is not an option for many reasons.
But this tale is not about that. Read on peoples.
The pressurized Coolant tank cracked, steaming away from the small soon to get bigger crack. Hey whatcha expect at 213,000 miles and 18 years,
I walked up to the Ford parts counter,,
Yep it’s in stock for $100 and labor to install was $140, SO $240 total.
I got the tank today for $18 and free shipping from some online auto parts store. All my local stores wanted $65-$90.00
EIGHTEEN bucks !!!
The install took me FIVE minutes !!
I used a quart of my already purchased antifreeze..

I am on the wrong forum. I’ve never kept a vehicle for more than 30,000 miles.
Yeah you can’t take it with you when you die right ! No kids to leave it to, LoL
I always drove vehicles into the ground, had one go to 528,000 miles before it slowed down due to low compression.
So I spent 20,000 buying that truck and over a half million miles I spent $1,300 in repairs.
I never count consumables like tires n brakes.
I’m not wealthy enough to give 30, or 50 grand up every 30,000 miles on a car and trade em in loosing half their value.
But this overly complex Bronco sport will get traded for a new toy before 90,000 miles.

I drive mine till they drop or until I stuff them someplace I’m not supposed to. I did sell the Lightning. Didn’t dare drive it as part were impossible to find. I’ll never buy a limited production vehicle again. My old Escape keeps ticking too. Really hate driving it now with the Sport around.

Me neither really. First car was a hand me down, put about 30k on it. Then I leased a Lexus, put about 30k on that, leased another one, traded it in for the BS with about 15k on the odometer.

I'm at 16k on my BS now, so about halfway through to a new car :)

retired
in the clock of life I'm somewhere around 6 to 7pm
remaining time guarded jealously
doing the things I like best
which doesn't include driving
did way to many road miles while employed
picked up the BS because it was a real good lifestyle fit
likes - really enjoy driving the BS
dislikes - other drivers
prefer the back roads
drive in the middle of the road
going on outings is Christmas in a way

I must be at 5:30 then. Still working, but the rest is spot on. But…….I think I’ll still put on more than 2 miles a day even at 9:00.

My father was still driving from the hill country of Texas to a Marina on the Ohio northwest coast at 90 years old. Get out there a drive my friend!
