I was just about back to my place and rolling through the neighborhood when, after doing a notorious California roll I guess, I heard and felt this massive thump by the rear diff. It was almost as if autohold was trying to engage but wasn’t allowed to by the forward movement of the car.

It sounded like I had hit something but I hadn’t. I got back to my place and once I parked I decided to check the autohold by parking the car and disengaging and reingaging it while parked to see if any warnings came up. One did briefly saying auto hold wasn’t able to be used, thankfully that went away.

About a half hour after that I went back out to see if I’d get any warnings or alerts and thankfully nothing happened, car drove well, auto hold was fine.

Im still kind of wondering though what the thump was? It was loud, it shook the car. I guess no damage was done thankfully.

I’ve felt this while sitting at a light with the engine off. Almost felt like the person behind me tapped the rear bumper. chalked it up to having an automatic. Never had that with any of my manual vehicles.

I honestly stopped the car to look around and see if I had ran over something massive or if there was any car damage. As you know it’s not a healthy sound.

Mine isn’t as loud as it feels.
