. I have the built in console safe in my outer banks, but in my opinion, it’s installed bass ackwards. Hinge in the front, combo to the rear is not ergonomic or easy to lock, unlock. This needs to be changed, Ford.
I don't think the safe is meant to keep a handgun in a ready condition. It's meant to store valuables when you leave your vehicle. I use it to store my concealed carry weapon when I'm visiting a location where handguns are prohibited. It's perfect for that.

Thank you but the other side of the plastic is completely enclosed. It's just to the right of my leg.
if the metal clip is a belt clip
fashion suitable length of heavy duty velcro to substitute as belt
apply mating velcro to plastic surface
don't cheap out
get the heavy duty velcro

Thank you. I'll give it a try. As a Concealed Carry Instructor, I encourage my students to carry all the time. The only time the handgun isn't readily accessible is when you are seat belted in place. The only time I use the car holster is when I get into the car and it goes back on my belt when I get out. Never leave the gun out and exposed when you leave the car. Unfortunately we live in unprecedented trouble times...and it continues to deteriorate.

That would be my only use, as well.

Edit: I’m a bigger guy and wear my holster in the 4 o’clock position. If I’m sitting in the driver’s seat, it’s difficult to draw quickly. The Stinger Mount comes with a sticky back so you don’t have to drill. Also the magnet is EXTREMELY strong so no worries about it coming out on its own. What may work for me, may not work for you. Thanks for the input everyone and stay safe!
i'm a 4 o'clock kinda guy myself...

Let me be perfectly clear. Securing fire sticks in a car is fine. But where the instructor says: The only time I use the car holster is when I get into the car and it goes back on my belt when I get out.
I strongly disagree.
in a stressful situation you could get out of your car and forget the thing,
We being only human can make a mistake at any time.
Getting out to get gas, rushing out in heavy rain.
This “tool” goes on when my pants go on and it stays with me like an extension of myself.
I leave no visible sign I am with a noise maker.
Bad guy cases a parking lot, decides to steal a Bronco Sport.
Looks in the window and sees that empty holster mounted there,
He makes a conscious decision to end you at first contact.
I live in an open carry state and no one ever sees any sign of my tools.
Naw, most don’t think like I do.
Pay me no attention.

The holster actually sits to the right of the steering column. No obstructions from where I’m sitting that I can find.

I’m pretty vigilant about always taking it with me. I definitely don’t want to leave it in my vehicle in fear of someone breaking in and stealing it. I work for a local government agency and hear pretty much anytime gets their firearm stolen. I’d never be able to forgive myself if someone used my firearm in the commission of a crime. Once it leaves my safe at home, it’s always within arms reach. I wouldn’t mind keeping it on my person the whole ride, but I’m a big guy and my pants sometimes can ride low when I’m sitting, causing a very awkward draw (or really me trying to get to it in the first place). I’ve taken every factor into play that I possibly can and I find this works for me and might not work for everyone else.

ideal for quick need application
under the column was more for concealing the mount when not in use
garmins, radar detectors & devices held in place by suction cups
thieves would smash windows if they saw an imprint of a suction cup
not even the device - just an imprint of a window suction cup
that's all it would take to get your vehicles glass broken
out of sight - out of mind approach might keep glass intact

I've been a Concealed Carry Instructor for the past fifteen years. I strongly encourage my students to get advanced training in the use of their carry gun. Simply carrying will not keep you safe. You need to be able to draw and accurately fire the gun. Our exercises in include drawing from under a cover garment and placing a shot in a pie plate at 7 yards in 2 seconds or less. The best part is seeing the smiles when they realize they can actually do it. Just takes training and practice, practice practice.
I also encourage them to carry 100% of the time. Carrying in the car while wearing a seat belt is definitely an impediment to fast acquisition. I'm still struggling with finding the best place to put the gun when driving. I'm not concerned about forgetting to place the gun back in my belt holster whenever leaving the car. Truckers often carry cross draw or shoulder holster. I'm not a fan of either but it seems to work for many of them.
One alternative I've been using for years has been keeping my little Keltec 380 in a sticky back holster in the arm rest. It's well hidden but easily accessible. Fortunately never needed. I'm left handed but also train to fire with either hand.
As an aside, I suggest IDPA competition on a regular basis to thoroughly familiarize with your gun handling and shooting with some added adrenaline from a variety of situations using cover. We live in troubled times. Stay safe!

I was actually thinking about doing this with a leather type holster... just getting some heavy duty velcro and sticking it to a concealed location.

I've done some looking online and it almost seems like there aren't any car mount options for revolvers. Not everyone carries a Glock...

I have a concealed carry permit and with my previous vehicle I just kept it in the center console... I could do the same here with the new Bronco Sport but am exploring other options as well.

Open to suggestions too!

Tried three different heavy duty Velcro but none of them stick to the plastic surface. My next attempt will be Gorilla Glue. All I need is to get the magnet to stick to the car interior. The magnet holds the holsters belt clip solidly in place.
Oh the trials and tribulations of a shooter.

I carry my Ruger LCR in a pocket holster or a leather belt holster. For carrying in the car, you don't need a fitted holster. Just get a large cheap nylon holster for temporary car carry. Same would apply if I wanted a place for my SW586.
