Was having trouble with my vehicle going into deep sleep mode constantly so upgraded the battery. Don’t know if the factory battery was bad do to my vehicle sitting in a rot lot forever or what. At any rate, the optima yellow top fits perfectly in the factory location and was easy to install. Just charging it up now before first use. It came 75% charged.

The Ford media rep reached out to me on this site about mine going into sleep mode. Ford corporate wanted me to take it to the dealer to have them look at it. While I appreciate their concern, I think this should be an easily identifiable cause and I explained that a number of owners are experiencing this. I’m quite sure it is a) a small battery; b) a meager charging system; or c) an unexpected drain.

I gave details about usage (no sitting with the stereo on, no 110v usage with the engine off, and that I turn off the auto stop/start every time. I suggest everyone experiencing this issue PM the Ford media rep. A case will be assigned to track each issue.

Vehicle started going into deep sleep mode again, even with the new battery. Only thing I can think of now is to remove my vehicle from Ford Pass and see if that’s what is draining the battery. Very frustrating!

Been a long time since I've had to chase one down
I might try testing across fuses to see which one(s) may be active

Well,
“Ford corporate wanted me to take it to the dealer to have them look at it.”
Ya think ?
But the yellow battery really stands out !
It does look special, hope the thing was not too spensive..
FWIW, been on FordPass for 17 months and a stock battery.
Never had a problem.

Member over at Ford Escape Forums seems to be having the same issue but mainly on the Hybrid models.

I too, was having the same issue on my Outer Banks. Mine would happen after 3-4 days of not using the car, though. I upgraded to the Ford OEM AGM battery and now it goes for way more than a week before I get the 'warning.'

@JTNEWTON7814 did you reset the BMS and/or reprogram the system to let it know you now have an AGM battery?

No, I didn’t do anything. I just found a method to reset it manually. My battery light flashed 3 times so maybe it’ll work. If not I’ll let the dealer do it. Method I found is as follows…
Procedure must be carried out within 10 seconds:
1. Switch ignition on (engine off)
2. Pull and release high beam 5 times
3. Press and release brake pedal 3 times
4. If successful the battery light will flash 3 times within the next 15 seconds 5. BMS reset completed

Hmmm … we’ll that seems close enough.

I had a defective battery replaced due to auto start stop stopped working because the voltage was at 11.88 and state of charge below 70%. The auto start stop as to be at 70 or hight to work. The issue didn't resolve with new battery. Back to the dealer for investigation. Battery check-out AOK but state of charge was still low. Issue at hand, the mechanic on the battery change did not reset the memory learning computer (what ever it is called), so it was retaining the last values. Reset and state of charge is now 85%...case closed!

My thinking cap is usually in the state of a sub-charged threshold
Your post activated the last remaining watts I can spare

What if:

"is useful because batteries that are used infrequently have a longer lifespan when they are maintained at less than a full charge."

Maybe ours rolling devices have battery charge settings?

I reset the body control module with forscan and I can see the new battery being recognized now.
While you're poking around in there any thing else on batteries we should know about?
Curious if charge settings might be a real thing.

While I like the idea behind the the optima battery construction, in practice they have all failed me on the three I have owned. Never again.
Good luck.

I’ve used them on my Jeep Liberty without any issues. I always purchase them directly through Optima not Amazon or some other third party. That way you know your getting a fresh battery and not one that’s been sitting on a shelf forever.
