I should have taken it back to the dealer, I am a new widower and live alone in the country. It takes two people to adjust the tire pressure, one person at the tire with an air compressor and another sitting behind the steering wheel to call out the numbers. Took me an hour and 15 minutes in freezing weather. Thinking of switching to another Ford dealer.
Sorry about you losing your spouse. Loss of a loved one is very tough. There is a much easier way to lower the tire pressure that would take much less time. You might want to pick up a gauge that has an air release built in. Amazon or any auto parts store will carry them. You go to the tire that you want to adjust the air pressure in and check it at the tire, not at the dash display. You put the tire pressure gauge on the tire valve stem and check the pressure there. If it is too high, press the release valve on the gauge while it is still showing the pressure and it will show the pressure drop as you release some air. If it shows low pressure, after you add some air to the tire, you can use the same gauge to check the pressure after you add air. On the unit below, the air release button is a bit hard to see, but it is there just above the dial on the left. Your Ford Dealer should of offered to reset the tires to the correct pressure. I would find a different dealer! Hope this helps!

Here is the link to the tire pressure gauge above from Amazon:

Thanks for the info, I will get one of those gauges for the next time. I have 2 old pop-out gauges and each one reads a different number, and neither one cooperates with the reading I get in the vehicle.

??? You can buy a tire pressure gauge and check the pressure yourself as you fill the tire. What am I missing?

Read the post before yours. I have two old gauges that I can't trust and I don't live near a store that will sell me a new one.

You are most welcome! Actually, I trust the newer accurate gauges like the one above than the tire pressure sensors in the tires that display the tire pressure on the dash display. They are close, but not always 100% accurate. I am so sorry you had to fight the cold and wind to reset the tire pressure. Hopefully you will be good for the rest of the winter season and that the new tires really grip in the snowy conditions. Best of luck to you!

I get it now. Instead of the two-person method I would just use the gauge that indicates closest to the dash indications and stick with that until you get a more accurate gauge. A few pounds off one way or the other temporarily won't cause any long-term damage.

I think it is my fault too, being a woodworker most of my life I have always strived for pinpoint accuracy. Being close to 33 PSI would have been good enough since the tire pressure changes anyway as they heat up on the road.
