I just got my new snow tires and rims on Friday from my ford dealer for my 2021 bronco sports big bend and on the way home I felt every crack on the road and the tires were very noisy. I checked my air pressure and the tires were all set at 43 PSI. Is this normal for snow tires?

I am also thinking of getting winter tires for my 2022 Outer Banks. Curious what tires you bought, what size? 43 seems a bit excessive for PSI.

Max psi on those tires is 43-51 psi. Seems excessive.

I agree, it rides like a logging truck.

Yes, I know it is but it does not mention snow tires.

It should be the same pressure as the doorjamb sticker. If you're really unsure, you could always chalk-line across the treads and see what a few straight-line revolutions on pavement does to the lines (wear should be even across the tread). Cheers!

Thanks, I may try that but right now the roads are pretty messy with slush, snow and sand.

Too many trained-seal tire "techs" automatically fill to the sidewall max number.

I had the tires put on late Friday and couldn't get back to the dealer till Tuesday-today because of New Years' holidays. He told me it was a mistake and that I should lower it to 33 lbs. So it was a trained-seal problem. Thanks, guys for your help.

Tire pressure is based on the load. The load doesn't change when you change tires. 33 PSI is what is recommended for the Sport. You'll have better traction in the snow, and a much better ride with lower pressure.

I upgraded the load range on my utility trailer tires. When I pumped them up to 50 lbs., shown on the sidewall, the eggs in my icechest broke from driving on a rough road. Over inflating tires can also wear out just the center of the tire. Ask me how I know.

I should have taken it back to the dealer, I am a new widower and live alone in the country. It takes two people to adjust the tire pressure, one person at the tire with an air compressor and another sitting behind the steering wheel to call out the numbers. Took me an hour and 15 minutes in freezing weather. Thinking of switching to another Ford dealer.
