I've seen so many relevant questions, things that made me rethink some of my choices, and others that solidified what I decided on. I figured this was a good opportunity to 'journal' my experiences and maybe it will raise some flags, maybe it will help some make choices along the way. Just venting my situation and nothing more.
Order date 3-26-21
Selected Bronco Sport Badlands trim
Added Cargo Management system
235-65-17 AT tire option
Tow assist package
Color select was Area 51 exterior and Area 51 interior

I started with web searches and determined all pricing at this point was the same across most dealers in my area. I tried the Costco route, they set me up with a dealer an hour and a half north, the guy seemed very busy, and tried several times to catch up with him. This was a red flag. Eventually came to a decision on what I wanted ( I selected everything and stuck with that plan). He was going to get back to me with pricing, insisted Costco was no haggle, better than Ford X plan pricing hands down. I like no hassle...but it became far from it.
I searched for dealer stock, nothing close to what I wanted, wife reassured me, get WHAT I want, I always settle, I'm simple and don't like hassle. I stuck to the plan. I found a dealer an hour away, big company, the guy was really smooth with more than 30 years at the same dealer. He spelled it all out, offered to set it up and suggested I do it sooner than later, he hinted time was ticking...he was right and I am confident he knew what was coming. I was fortunate to have a few options for an X plan, my old college teammate/room mate hooked me up. Processed my order and off I went. I tried a few other options just to see where I was, all the other options were the same, or worse, and this dealer offered to set me up with the best finance/options/rebates possible, promised he'd lock me in, thinking maybe q2 options would be better. He said if not, he'd guarantee the best deal even if that was a q1 quote. I filed my credit app, filed my X-plan, put down a $500 refundable/usable deposit.

April 8 I get an email, great news, here is my VIN and scheduled build for May 17 week. Now I'm kinda pumped up and ready to go. I keep reading all the delays, issues with parts, etc. He reassures me I have a VIN it will get done. He mentioned the size of their dealership, the location of the dealership, and their ties to Ford, it will work out. As it stood, my build is on schedule, and should be ready to roll. I have read a few other sites mentioning the same, they wouldn't assign a VIN and build if they didn't have parts allocated, could be delays but if the dealer has order and priority it should get done on schedule. He stated he would get back with me if anything changes, he has multiple other Sport orders, said he checks them daily, I honestly believe it as quickly as he responded with the VIN and other info.

Looking at all the other options, pictures, stories, I like a lot of the options you have all put together. I like the cargo management system, glad I got it. I am glad I did not opt for the moon roof/badland package, seems like that's causing a lot of delay issues, not that tow etc won't also. But those were things I really didn't want, and hopeful it will work out better in the end.
I like the decals Vortex signs and others have available and some of the pictures really help make a difference in decisions.
I like the idea of either removing the tailgate badging all together and keeping it clean, or remove, spray to match body color and reinstall. I like the silver decals on the front BRONCO grill logo. I like a lot of the patriotic decals on rear windows and fenders. I will probably keep the Badlands badging on the doors, just seems like they belong there. I am considering the rear Ford emblem with a darker Ford emblem, I'd love to get a flag version but all that I have found available are 9" or 7" where the stock OEM is 5"x2"
I was fortunate to purchase the rubber floor mats from another member, quick shipping and great guy to talk to and deal with (PersimmonHills). I think I've decided against the bug/rock deflector, I've never had one on any other vehicle, and where the bug splat is a pain...I don't like the idea of color fade differences should I take it off later. I do plan to add cross bars and the bumper protector. For now...I just sit in waiting, hoping May 17 is a good week. I have to thank all of you encouraging the wait being worth it, it's great seeing so many personal pictures and stories, makes the wait a bit better and I have zero patience. As I hear more I will continue to add to the list of what to expect, what I've experienced.

Very nice details , it’s all about the experience. My wait was like when we all where 10 years old and could not stand the wait. That’s the experience. This is my first suv, for the last 50 years I have been driving pretty much Lincoln/ Ford cars .I am having a blast with this thing.Enjoy the wait , there Is a beginning and end to everything. ENJOY
We live in an area where 90% of families were once tied to one auto plant or another from the big three. Now most are in the health care industry as plants moved out to canada and mexico. My uncle was a 40 year employee, and we all drove Ford products. My first vehicle was a 79 Bronco shown in my avatar. Eventually my brother in law was a Jeep employee and we switched over and I can't say it was a bad experience. The Challengers and Rams I have owned were all great along the way. I even test drove a new Ram as I looked at the Sports. Going back to a Bronco just felt right. I loved everything about it. I am excited and that ten year old feel...nailed it. Feels like Christmas Eve and the movie Groundhog Day all wrapped up.

I placed my order in October and just picked up my badlands yesterday. As frustrating as the wait was, getting pushed back SO many times, when I picked it up those all those feelings went out the door. It’s well worth the wait, hang in there!

ordering update, or should I say a lack thereof. Clearly, yesterday's news of a Hermosillo plant shut down from May 3-17 put a kink in many people's plans and expectations, mine as well. As my scheduled build was May 17, either I am just clear of that issue...or I am square in the middle of it as production scheduled for the 3-17 window would just be pushed. My dealer had reassured me I was fine, nothing had changed, and all was still set to roll. I emailed inquiring how this shut down could affect my build, he has yet to respond. It could be that he wants facts, as that's how he has been with everything to this point, straightforward. Or, I've entered the ignored world and he's just not planning to respond. I guess I will just give it a few days and see.

In the meantime, as information builds, it appears the chip shortage is becoming a bigger problem by the day. Some estimates claim this is being managed by Biden and industry leaders working on a solution...others indicate this will not end any time soon and could well create a FORD deficit of close to four million units and expand into the 2023 lines because new features are so dependent on these chips and giant supply chain chaos.

I am at a point I am invested, I want what I set out to build, but I am actively exploring other options making a few sacrifices if it comes down to it as dealer inventory increases. Which begs the question...how did they have parts to schedule dealer lot vehicles instead of balancing out orders from last year for some of you? I get that it's business and this vehicle has probably exceeded all expectations. I have to see how the next couple of weeks unfold as my build date gets closer. I feel for some of you waiting even months to get what you wanted.

I also tried the Costco No Haggle program and didn't use that dealer either - he was also far away from me and the $699 doc fee more than erased the $500 discount from the MSRP price he was offering. I went over my state border where doc fees are restricted to $75 and overall got a better price.

so things took a positive turn for at least the next 24 hours. I had test drove a Bronco Sport at another dealership, they called today and said they had a badlands just arrive today. It was scheduled to arrive May 28, they tagged it an I am heading up tomorrow to see if I can work out a purchase and release my current order. The only thing it's lacking is the cargo managment system which I am hearing mixed reviews. I am at a point a bird in hand is worth two in the bush. If they have what I want...I feel like I'd be kicking myself letting it go, waiting on my order, only to find out chip issues pushed me back to the end of the line some time in October.

Well I am signing paperwork on my "backup plan". Anyone in the Detroit/Rochester Michigan area looking for a Badlands area 51, tow system, cargo management and 235/65/17 tires message me and I can give you dealer info to help you and help them. They are proceeding with the order for obvious reasons. I also have a set of front and rear seating floor mats I will sell for what I paid another member $100 and ship.

Well that's why I took the bird in hand. My purchase is A51 Badlands, 235 tires, tow kit. Only omit is the cargo system, but includes mats front rear and cargo. So it was get it guaranteed or wait and hope
So happy for you, if all you had to give up was the CMS I think you did great. about 2 weeks ago I started making a list of must haves and the CMS wasn't on it even though I ordered it. Enjoy your new ride :)

The CMS is what I ordered as well. I have passed up a few myself because they did not have it........I possibly made a mistake as you well know we have been in the same boat.

Had I not worked with this dealer from the start I would have just waited it out and took the build. It will be worth the purchase however it unfolds. As many have said, hang tight you will enjoy it.
