Anybody take their BS offroading in Mammoth area? How did it do? Any pointers or downsides? Have been there many times with my expedition, but soon will be my first with BS. Anybody find roads too much for BS. By the time I go I will have 245/64 and 2"lift

Have not taken my Badlands, it would be fine on the dirt road trails. I wouldn't do what we did back in the day with it. Myself and some friends that had Toyota 4x4 pickups would go off roading in Mammoth during the summer. There were lots of places to go, the most fun was climbing the ski runs and having the rangers get all wound up. Our trucks at that time had carburetors and at altitude lost noticeable power which made things more challenging, the Toyotas had transfer cases with high and low ranges which definitely helped alot. I'm sure you couldn't do that type of thing in Mammoth now, it's so built up and eyes being everywhere, it sure was a blast.

Hey I was up there over the 4th and did some driving while I was up there. I wanted to do Laurel Lake but just couldn't find the time. The car should be able do that fine, just as always, be weary of the clearance. Since you have a 2in lift you'll be good.

Other than that, usual cautious approach and you should be fine. Very smart getting the lift though that'll be so helpful as you do more real trails. If I were you I wouldn't hesitate to do anything that has a moderate trail rating.

I was up there with my 2022 Badlands last week. I took it up a dirt road off of Substation Road east of 395. The road started at 37.641316, -118.903106. A couple of areas up there with sharp rocks to watch out for, but other than that, the Badlands never complained or failed to go over anything on that road.

I remember going through areas up there where the dirt was like fine powder and the expo would sink if I stopped and some deep rutted forestry roads to get to the off road attractions like the craters. I also heard of a secret back road to the devils postpile if anyone knows of it.
