NEED ADVICE****
Something bumped up against the floodlight and it popped out and broke the clip that holds in. Took it to the dealership about3 weeks ago, they ordered a new floodlight and said the warranty would cover it since no significant damage was seen.

Today I take it in for them to replace the light and now they are saying the entire panel is damaged and needs to be replaced. They want to charge $580! And the panel is not covered by warranty. The service guy told me the first tech diagnosed it wrong and is no longer with them.
So I don’t understand why they have to replace the entire panel just for a floodlight to clip in??

Follow Up:
Apparently the Bronco Sport isn’t built as Ford Tough and not a rugged as they advertise.

They replaced the floodlight but the tech said the problem wasn’t the clips in the light but the plastic clips on the panel that hold the light in place and allow it to move up and down.

My Jeep Grand Cherokee’s lift gate has been bumped so many times by items and packed full and never had any problems with things popping out.

Sort of odd because it was first diagnosed as covered because no visible damage now different part is broken and now $580 but still no visible damage? Yeah that sounds real fair.

Exactly, there are scratches but not as damaged as they made it sound. It’s not dented. But apparently when I closed it, the plastic lift gate bent in just enough for “significant damage”.

it’s like any damage to the vehicle … when the shop starts taking things apart they find associated damage underneath. It’s happened to me when something looks simple then escalates as it’s disassembled. I know .. this info isn’t helpful sorry.

But assuming they provided you with part numbers you can search the internet for parts which if you are handy often will be about 50% (or more) savings for doing the fix yourself. Or you could check if local junkyards have any wrecked bronco sports with the parts you need.

Check out this post which now I see has one of your replies I think:

The instructions and or YouTube video for JCRs Bronco Sport Hatch MOLLE Panel should provide the info you need. Contact JCR.

Maybe reseat it with a couple drops of silicone so you can pop it out if the bulb dies, and call it a day.

Back in '88 when ash tray spring tang broke inside console on my '88 mustang Ford did not sell color molded replacement console even though car was 4 months old. So dealer idiots got the non matching part in got some rattle can paint from hardware store sprayed non matching paint. Then I go pick car up blow up cause looked complete crap and car 4 months old. So I said give my broken console back which they still had. I went home super glued metal tab on inside of console now decades later yep still works perfectly to this day. Simple fix can't see it ash tray door works like new car....easy peasy...
