From the owner's manual (2021 Owner's Manual, Liftgate, page 70, or 2024 Owners Manual, Liftgate, p.71):

Note: Do not hang anything, for example
a bike rack, from the glass or liftgate. This
could damage the liftgate and its
components.

Don't expect warranty coverage of your hatch or lift struts if you add this to your car.
Why I buy used over new or leased. I love modifying my vehicles to suite my tastes and functionality preferences and can do as I wish!

I buy new, no loan, no lease. It's all mine to mess with, although I am cognizant of the warranty.

What fortuitous timing for you to ask. I just got the fittings in that I was waiting for to finish the project.

I had also reached out to JCR and got the same response. Reading it again, I now know what they meant by the angled adapter. They mean these. You will need an angled fitting on the top end of the strut. I figured that out when the new struts came in and the straight fitting wouldn't work.

The fittings on the OEM strut thread on and can be reused, but the LiftSupportDepot struts are threaded M8x1.25, while the OEM are M6x1.0. That's why I ordered (and waited a while) for those amazon ones.

I don't remember why I didn't go with the strut they linked to, and in hindsight I definitely could have, because the one's I got are STRONG! After only installing 1 of the new struts and leaving the other OEM I could achieve a really good level of lift assist and ease of closing. With both installed, it takes slightly more force than I'd like to get going in the closing direction, but still not too much. The tradeoff being I can actually hang stuff off the handles now and this liftgate will take it, even with the molle panel loaded up.

For reference, the OEM struts are roughly 170ft-lb.
The JCR recommended struts are 194ft-lb.
The struts I installed are 209ft-lb.

My questions are did you need to get an adaptor/bracket to install the support you used and is the one JCR recommends need one as well?
Thanks!

Yes. You need the angled socket at the top end. Looks like the one JCR recommend doesn't come with the angled socket either.

Edit: Just found a set of fittings that should work on Amazon for anyone still looking: https://a.co/d/4pP0y4e

If it helps, I added these (which I think are the recommended ones from JCR earlier in this thread) exactly as they are with no adapters. They are significantly stronger without being obnoxious, and everything seems to work like it did before (but can now lift the gate while the MOLLE panel is loaded easily)

As I said, I ordered the ends off the "jungle web site", the shocks might be here today. They have been in the Buffalo distribution hub (since the day before yesterday according to USPS tracking) so we'll have to see if they will work "as-is" with a fire extinguisher, 1st Aid kit and shovel attached. I have time to return the ends if I do not need them

I am a prospective BS buyer, and realize these pictures aren't BS per se.

I'm wondering if anyone ever configured something like this? With all the rear headroom -- seems like an great use of space.

I would have much preferred that to the one I have that attaches to the inside of the rear hatch. The factory push clips were never designed to support any additional weight, even a 3lb fire extinguisher and a 2lb trauma kit seem to be too much. I like the idea of it, looks great but I need functionality. I need to figure out how to keep the interior panels from continually separating every time I close the hatch. I'm sure I'll end up mounting the interior panels with 4 nut-serts and spacers if needed to the metal hatch its self using the push clips current positions as a guide as to where to mount them more securely. That's a project for the spring/summer, photos will follow.

I've never had the panel pop out on mine, even with all the crap I've got it loaded with - as seen in the original post of this thread.

That said, I may one day soon get rid of the JCR molle panel. Adding any bags/items onto the panel takes up a lot of the small room we've got in the back cargo bay, so trying to load the back with lots of cargo can be problematic. It also makes it so that the OEM cargo management system no longer fits when extended to cover the whole cargo bay.

I think the rear window molle panels from HRG will be more convenient than this product. Especially when you factor in having to source struts and brackets for the JCR panel.
