All of a sudden every time I start my Bronco 2022 Sport with my iPhone with me it shows my phone making a call that isn’t really happening. I have to remove the bluetooth connection to my for to end it. I’ve mad no changes to settings on iPhone or Bronco. Any idea what is going on?

This has happened a few times over the years (we've had SYNC 3-equipped vehicles for nearly a decade); I don't know what causes it. We use Android rather than Apple. The only fix I've found to work is to delete the Android Auto cache and storage on the phone, delete the Bluetooth connection to SYNC, then perform a SYNC master reset. It's a PITA, but it's the only way I've found to fix this particular issue.

@Kozz With iPhones, 3 things to try to stop those annoying “ghost calls”

1. Update to IOS 17.2.1 or latest (IOS 17.0.x has known issues)

2. Update to SYNC 3, Software Version: 3.4 Build 23188 PRODUCT ( or later version if available )

You didn’t mention CarPlay, when the random ghost call occurs is it related to happening soon after plugging in and CarPlay starts up?
And/or do you have one of the wireless CarPlay adapters?

3. If the ghost call relates to plugging in the iPhone cable, it can be related to the cable.

Finally sometimes the ghost call is not a call at all and it’s your own phone number showing up on the 8” display .. is that the # you see or is any # displayed?

Also … if you are plugging in often you do not need to remove the Bluetooth connection .. just the act of unplugging the iPhone and plugging it back it will stop the ghost call. (By plugging in I mean to one of the USB ports below the 8” Display).

For us, it happened as soon as the phone connected to SYNC via Bluetooth. SYNC would automatically switch to the PHONE screen and display the same progress bar (representing time) as you would see if you were actually on a call.

Thanks for your insight, I am downloading the last upfate from Apple. I have been using my phone for navigation in my other car before (just got back from a trip). So I think that may be a factor. Once the instal is done I will see if that has an impact (shutting down the phone might have ended any previous navigation leftovers). If it still happens I will reset Bluetooth and make sure Sync is current as well.

I had something kinda similar happen, and it turned out to be a weird Bluetooth bug between my phone and the car’s sync system. I also use Active Calls call center software for work, and I had to change some of the app’s notification permissions because it was trying to keep a persistent connection open, which made my phone act weird when starting the Bronco. Maybe dig around those settings and see if that helps.
