Confident my first vehicle was junked long ago^, but a timely question in that just last weekend, I (figuratively) bumped into the truck I traded for the Bronco Sport in a parking lot nearby.
Yeah, if I had the space and mandatory fees like insurance and registration weren't a thing, I would have loved to keep it. Even though having multiple cars is over-consumptive.

^ p.s. this can potentially be a dangerous question for a person to specifically answer on the internet. I don't use those security questions, but someone might, fyi.

88 mustang. I wouldn't want it back but it was good car. I did discover the bronco sport because I was on the lot looking at new convertable mustangs.
lots of you with the vw beetles! my parents owned one when I was growing up. Carolina blue. I drool over all the convertable bugs I see on the road. I hope they're producing them again when I'm ready for my next car.

I'd love to but no chance. Asshole neighbor bought it and used it as a rear end accident lawsuit on purpose. '72 nova 350 under the hood and 28,000 miles...once I hit 120 on telegraph I never got to drive it again...ended up in a '79 Bronco instead and that wasn't a downgrade after all?

When it comes to my first car that I learned to drive on and shared with my brother, HELL NO! It was an awful Ford Focus ZX3 that was an absolute money pit and very unreliable! However, when it comes to my first vehicle for myself that I didn't have to share with my brother, HELL YES! It was a gorgeous 2009 Dodge Challenger R/T in Rallye Red. I only had it for a year only because after Hurricane Irma hit, I decided I should get a truck just in case this happens again and we need to evacuate or have a vehicle to haul bulky items. Also, in order to get home improvements done. But I still kick myself for trading it in.

It offered many wonderful memories of driving to hunt for Hot Wheels, going to work or special occasions, etc. All done in comfort and style. It was very reliable with only routine maintenance done. If I had kept it, it would be paid off and I would repair any of the cosmetics that needed attention. That way I have no car payment, can save more money each month and it would still look like a brand new car. I am glad I got rid of it when I did now that fuel prices have gone up drastically because that would be tough to put up with. But honestly, it would be worth it.

No joke, I actually reunited with this car at my work a week ago. They just so happened to pull up to my exact store while I was out in the parking lot. So I went up and asked them where they purchased the vehicle from and, sure enough, it was from the same dealer that I traded it in. So I knew for a fact that it was my exact car! I haven't seen it in 5 1/2 years! It was a mind-blowing experience! And what's even better is that I know the car is in good hands. It belongs to a lovely couple out of Colorado who daily drive the vehicle from Colorado to Florida and back. It's still running strong and has only had preventative maintenance. What cracks me up is that it's used to haul skis on the back! Who would've thought? It doesn't look as nice as when I had it but it's decent enough. I'll truly miss my old Challenger. ? What a great car!

You guys are all kids. Hell no! My first was a 1947 Chevy 2 door. It had a finicky shifter, brakes that had to be bled every month or so, and shock absorbers with lever arms that would fall out once in a while. When the shock came out on the freeway, I bounced into the next lane. When the brakes needed bleeding, I ran into the garage door once, and a car once. Gas was 29 cents a gallon back then, and I could barely afford it. One day I was pushing it down the road trying to get it to start and a garbage truck pulled up next to me and asked if I wanted to sell it. I said $100, and sold it later that day. That said, I was very happy to have a car at all. Driving that car, and most of the ones since, I knew if I got a date, it wasn't because she liked the car. My second "car" was a Doge truck that got 8 mpg on the highway. A Yamaha 90 Enduro was my daily driver back then. 100 mpg in town. My third car was a Karmen Ghia with body damage, but it was a blast to drive, and got 40 mpg on the highway. I never paid more than $400 for a car until I was out of college. I was dirt poor.

That is gorgeous! Mine didn't look near that nice when I got it. I didn't realize when I bought it that someone had swapped in a rear glass from a '75 so it has the wrap around rear window. Common thing people did in the 80's I've heard. I'm planning on swapping it back one of these days. I had a 455 in mine. Not original to the car, but it was in it when I bought it. Affording gas was a bitch so after a year or so I swapped it out for a 350 Pontiac that my Dad had in his old '65 Lemans years before. I've still got the 455 which I'll put back in eventually. I haven't driven it now in about six years. We had a massive snow winter here in 16/17. Like record breaking snow. Hundreds of buildings came down. One of which was my main farm shop where I putter with my cars. Luckily my '73 was parked outside but I lost three Trans Ams, a '52 Willys wagon, a '52 Ford Consul, and a '36 Ford Humpback when it came down. I haven't gotten back to building cars again yet. I have a slight addiction to cars, especially old Pontiacs. I've owned close to 100 2nd gen Firebirds over the years. Buy them, fix em, sell em. Hell my senior project in high school was restoring a '79 Trans Am. Took it down to every nut and bolt and back again. Wish I would have kept that one as well.

I'll snag some pics of my '73 when I'm around it in the next couple days for ya. Whatever happened to your '73?
Foolishly got rid of it when I was dumb and thought things were beyond my abilities and my parents garage. I spun a bearing in the motor and that when I got rid of It that was 1987. Lots of fun and memories.

My 1968 Opel Kadet? No. My next car which was a 1970 Opel GT… in a heartbeat.

But I eventually put a rod through a cylinder wall and the replacement engine and clutch never felt “like the first time”. Some years llater I bought a ‘73 but it just wasn’t the same. Then I bought a TR7. Fun but… ouch.
