I can't use the keypad to unlock the door unless the key is within 3 feet from the driver's door. Is this how it's really supposed to work or am I missing something here?

My garage is over 50 ft from the house. I can leave the fob in the house and unlock my OB using the keypad. I do find the keypad fussy. I have to touch it just right.....?

I’ve used the keypad on other Fords and love it, especially when I don’t want to bring my keys/ fob.
This is what I’ve found to successfully use this:
  1. Swipe down to activate the pad
  2. use your thumb i press each number slowly and firmly
  3. you will here the driver door unlock when you release the last number
  • Press 4 to unlock all 4 doors
  • press the bottom two digits at the same time to lock all doors. The key fob can still be in the car.

Thank you! It's pressing each number slowly I have trouble with. ?

Was gonna say, the fob should be for keyless entry not keypad. That's the whole point of the keypad entry. Glad you got it resolved.

There are 4 ways to unlock the car which is kind of neat.
Press button on keyfob
Pull handle with keyfob in pocket
Keypad
Unlock with app

I have had the same keypad number since 1986 ,and it has never failed me once. That is on about 10 different Ford and Lincoln cars. It works absolutely perfect.

By the time you typed your post, waited to read the replies goofed around playing with the keypad on your sport, you could have looked at the owners manual, and found the answer.
It's the first note: If you enter your entry code too fast on the keypad it may not work.

Thanks for the tip! I may have pressed the numbers too fast

You no read well.
My post also says you entered your code too fast. The Note is from the owners manual. Read it.
