My thoughts exactly. I put a pair of Red Lines on my 2021 CX5 Sig, smiled at how slick they worked, and realized they made no practical difference for my use. Wants vs needs, I guess. Live and learn.
Sometimes the hood props can get in the way when doing maintenance or making repairs under the hoods, the struts are nice and out of the way. I will probably install the struts on mine for simply that reason....each person has their own preference.

I second the forums opinion on the Redline Struts. Easy install and they work great. It looks like they have a stainless steel version that were not around when I got mine. Might be a good option if you live in an area with various weather.

Non-stainless version:

The struts raised the hood about four inches (or so) higher than the kickstand. I haven't hit my head on it. But I also kept the kickstand installed in case the struts ever failed. I did get the stainless steel version. I may not need it here in Arizona (monsoons don't last too long), but I do have the occasion to travel to other sites on the East Coast (Florida, Georgia, and New York).

I have had them installed for about a year (first mod I did to the Bronco) and have yet to have any issues.
