Sorry for the delayed response; we've been on vaca in the Bahamas (stand by for some gnarly Shark vids). I'm pretty sure that just about everyone agrees with your assessment. Unfortunately, the timing of the recall is problematic for you. There is a valid argument to be made that a three-year-old battery has reached the end of its service life. I agree with @Dude, contact your servicing dealership and ask for reimbursement. Let us know how it turns out.

Thanks Mark,
I hope that you had a fun vacation. You were missed by the people on the forum :).
I will find out more tomorrow when I will have the mobile service installing the latest software recall (25S26).

My Wife has been sick for a week or so and the BS hasn't been driven in that time. Took it to run some errands yesterday and noticed that stop start, wasn't working. As I understand it, that seems to be an early indicator of battery weakness.

Put it on the charger, maybe 1:00 p.m, maybe a touch later but it was drawing just shy of 6A. About 7:00 pm, it was still taking something over 2A. So, it needed a charge. This morning, it is in float.

I'll let that cook for a day or 2 and then, a much longer test will start.
We just got back yesterday, from a 47 day RV trip.

Before we left, after the full charge mentioned above, I disconnected the charger. Closed the hood and windows and locked the car.

Got home and hit the ignition, fired right up. No sleep warnings or anything on Ford Pass while we were gone.

Pleasantly surprised, that just shy of 7 weeks and no problems.

It is easy to run down the battery on the BS. Letting your battery discharge below 50% shortens their life. If you don't drive it a lot, you should probably have a solar panel on the dash, or a trickle charger.

So far, no problems with my battery. That said, I carry a battery jumper when I go out of town.

Hi Mark,
Just "to close the loop" - 6 weeks after sending a letter to Ford customer relations, with a copy of the invoice of the battery that I replaced myself before the recall was issued, I received a reimbursement check in the mail today. Thank you Ford!

Glad to hear it. I posted my response before the battery in my car was replaced under the recall. The tech who did the work told me another customer in the same situation as you also received reimbursement. It appears Ford is abandoning its rumored profit-at-all-cost business model and is actually taking care of its customers, at least in this situation.
