The Preview Section for the FordPass App 5.14.0 on the iPhone App Store shows this:

Preview

< there are screenshot images of FordPass App screens shown in the iPhone App Store which I am not reproducing here >

FordPass offers the ability to manage your vehicle right from your phone:

• Send convenient remote commands - Lock, unlock, and start your vehicle using complimentary remote vehicle controls
(1) - when equipped with FordPass® Connect (2)

• Electric vehicle ownership support - Monitor charging progress and use Departure Times to precondition your battery and cabin (3)

• FordPass feature availability varies by vehicle and country. Images (not reproduced in this Post) shown for illustrative purposes only

(1) Remote lock/unlock requires power door locks. Remote starting requires automatic transmission.

(2) FordPass Connect (optional on select vehicles), the FordPass App and complimentary Connected Service are required for remote features (see FordPass Terms for details). Connected service and features depend on compatible network availability. Evolving technology/cellular networks/ vehicle capability may limit functionality and prevent operation of connected features.
Connected service excludes Wi-Fi hotspot.

(3) Effectiveness of cabin conditioning may be reduced by extreme outside temperatures.

Not sure when it was introduced, but seems the FordPass app now supports shortcut automations.

I can create an iOS automation to launch the app and send a lock command in case I forget to lock the doors at night.

Your lock automation is cool, provides piece of mind

Besides lock and unlock are there other commands you have found?

I've only found lock and unlock. Sadly, upon further testing it requires your device to be unlocked, which kind of defeats the purpose. I guess I could set up the automation on my wall mounted home automation iPad, which is always screen on and unlocked.

Probably is for safety reasons to have the iPhone / iPad unlocked

I added FordPass and shortcuts/automations to my always unlocked iPad.

The only scenario that might bite me in the [redacted] is if I am out and about, and both my phone and key fob are in the vehicle while I am not.

I'll have to test the fob in vehicle scenario, but I think I read it will lock the vehicle. Does anyone know if there is a Forscan PID that can change that behavior?

UPDATE

Confirmed it will remotely lock vehicle with fob inside. It will not if you push the lock button on the door before closing.

Does your vehicle have the keypad on the exterior drivers side door?

it would be nice if you can get ahold of a Apple Watch with FordPass App and test out if the automation will lock the vehicle at a set time. Apple Watch probably is “always on”. Or an owner with an Apple Watch might see this thread and try the lock automation you posted earlier.

an always on iPad is probably safe enough with respect to your vehicle - unlikely someone would know to use the FordPass App if they somehow got ahold of your iPad

I do not have the keypad option and not sure what it would take to install a used one from a breakers yard.

Excellent point! I always wear my Apple Watch and tested the FordPass app. So that may be all I need in a worst case scenario where my fob and phone are in the car. As far as running shortcuts/automations on the watch, I likely will have my watch on its charger when I want an automation to run. Watch FordPass shortcuts/automations also require the phone to be unlocked. :(

I think there is a way to hide apps, but probably not necessary.
