Just thought I would post this incase some are not aware that you can get a refund on the unused portion of the Ford ESP warranty.

I just traded in my 2019 Edge for a new Escape. I had 2 years left on the Ford ESP and just received a $400 refund for the remainder of the contract that will not be used. This is after using the ESP for approximately $5,000 in recent repairs. At the time I purchased the contract the original price was over $1,800 so I think that was a fair refund. You must go back to the dealer that sold you the ESP for the refund.

So for anyone thinking about getting an extended warranty I have been happy with the Ford warranty, especially since you can get a refund if you cancel the contract before it ends.

Working in auto sales for the past 15 years, this is common knowledge. Dealers won't tell you this because they get charged back on the prorated amount of the refund which means less profit for them even if it is years after the fact. This applies to all warranties and service contracts including wheel and tire packages, maintenance plans, etc.

To add to this: Depending on the service contract provider, some refunds can take 6-8 weeks before you get the refund. If you plan on trading in a vehicle and there is a lien on it, the reimbursement may get sent to the bank holding the lien instead of the vehicle owner. So, if you know you will be trading in your vehicle, it is a good idea to cancel your service contract(s) at least 2 months prior so that it lowers your payoff when the time to trade it in arrives.
