Finished by 4th oil change yesterday at 15K
To recap:
First change at 1K
Second change at 5K
Third change at 10K
Fourth at 15K
The plastic bag trick works real nifty for the oil filter so thanks for that. Never had a filter that hung so far over the lower part of the bumper cover.
Still no issues to report on the threading of the oil pan nut. 15mm socket takes it off real nice. A good hand tighten with a pull at the far end of a 12in wrench is sufficient to get it back on and ready for the next time in five thousand miles.
Honestly, the grooved holes for the oil pan protector, in the rear, are heaven sent. It allows you to easily take it on and off. Whoever designed or introduced those grooves should be given a raise.
