So we purchased the extended warranty at the dealer which supposedly covers everything bumper to bumper for 7YR/100K. I thought it was a Ford warranty but it was actually underwrittten by a company called Portfolio One. It has add on’s for the turbo and roadside assistance.

After browsing on here I see that I can get a much better price through Granger or extend out the time and mileage for the same price as we paid.

What are the benefits or drawbacks to the Ford plan versus a 3rd party plan? It looks like I will be covered as far as repairs and rentals and towing goes and that’s all I care about. I would like to ensure that no matter how much the tow cost and how long I need the rental vehicle that I will be covered but it looks like there may be limitations and caps on that. Is that normal and unavoidable or is there a better plan somewhere for making sure we have another vehicle for as long as a repair takes?

Also, does the warranty that comes from the factory, the 3YR/36K bumper to bumper NOT cover anything that this Ford warranty would? Like say the rental vehicle or something?

How much more expensive would this warranty be if we waited until the factory 3YR/36K was almost up and then purchased it at that point?

Ditch the 3rd party warranty and get a refund. Read the contract as you may have up to 90 days to cancel. I think these dealers sell these because there is a larger profit to make.

Go here, your options are many. About the best deal around. Call them if you have questions.

I agree with wireman. Cancel that 3rd party warranty and get the official Ford one through Granger. And if you have Ford Pass points, you can apply them towards the purchase. Good luck.
