This is my first car with LED lighting. I see that extended warranties tend to cover bulb replacement. I understand that LED bulbs cost more than standard Incandescent, but can anyone with experience enlighten me as to what sort of expense we'd be talking?

An older Explorer had an LED light bar for the rear stop lamp and was around $450 to fix. Basically, If an entire LED taillight goes bad on your vehicle its not so much a bulb as it usually requires the entire part to be replaced.. i.e. the retail cost of a taillight from Ford around $350 a piece ( say for an F-150, in this case).
