Dome light won't turn off

I've had an issue lately that the interior dome light in my Bronco Sport stays on after unlocking and getting in. Even when manually turned to the off position, the light comes on when the doors are unlocked and stays on. The only way to turn it off is to flip the switch to door mode, then back to off. It does this after a long sit, such as after being parked overnight, but not on short stops. It turns off normally when leaving and locking the doors. Anyone else have this problem or have any insights on it? Thanks.

Similar issue has been reported a few times I’ve seen .. trying giving the rear liftgate a solid closing. Can’t push on the liftgate metal too much from the exterior (others reported that can bend the metal) … I use the pull handle on the inside of the rear hatch, pull down and let go allowing the hatch to solidly close. Sometimes that’s the issue with the dome light.

However…you stated “dome light stays on after unlocking and getting in” so that doesn’t fit the above scenario. Perhaps the dome light switch is flaky or has a build up of moisture.

I probably would try flipping the dome light switch through all its positions for about 30 seconds or so.
