Hello , I've been to two auto body shops , both have said my roof is the result of Ford Factory wrap resulting in the appearance of my roof now , pics attached. They've declined to work on it untill I talk to Ford about this .
My ‘22 Badlands has the Painted Shadow Black Roof. The roof gets chips just like body parts and not scuff marks like on the Paint Protection Film I have on the pillars etc. When looking at the underside of the rear hatch near the hinges while open it looks like a wrap to me especially since it is as shiny as the piano black plastic parts that are next to the roof. Does the Shadow Black Roof get chips like the body paint or is it more of a scuff mark if a rock is kicked up from the road and hits the roof above the windshield? I feel like it is a different material from the painted body parts.
For OP, 21 Bronco Sport order guide does not mention Shadow Black Roof on lower trims as an option. It only lists "Shadow Black Roof" as standard on Outerbanks and above trims but does not use the work painted in the description.
I am glad to know that it chips like paint. Does the inside of your hatch look like the picture I posted with my comments above? If you look close the black roof (wrapping?) wraps onto the inside edge of the upper right corner of the hatch and upper rear pillar about an inch. I have never seen anything like this before and never had a two tone color before so nothing to compare it to.My ‘22 Badlands has the Painted Shadow Black Roof. The 2022 Order Guide shows:
‘22 Base, Big Bend:
Roof - body color
‘22 Outer Banks, Badlands
Painted Shadow Black Roof
Optional:
Painted Carbonized Gray Roof

I am pretty sure that this is not Ford factory work. The Base model you have did not have a two tone option from the factory. It was body color roof. Thus, like with the Big Bend trim, if you have a black roof (save for the 2024 BAP), it is an aftermarket job,.Hello , I've been to two auto body shops , both have said my roof is the result of Ford Factory wrap resulting in the appearance of my roof now , pics attached. Thank you!mine looks exactly like you pictured and I initially had the same thought as you however the order guide states it is paint and the shop that put on my PPF said it was paint.
I do agree with you about it feeling like different material.
Let’s see who else chimes in on your post perhaps with a definitive answer!
Guaranteed it isn't a factory wrap.
