The lease on our 2022 Badlands is ending in September so we have been considering our options.

I haven’t been paying much attention to new vehicles over the past 2 to 3 years but I am fully aware of the many price increases.

I’ve been watching the odd YouTube video about dealerships and the problems many of them are having selling new vehicles. However, I took much of it with a grain of salt and thought some exaggeration might be involved. I was wrong.

I recently visited my local Ford Lincoln dealership to test drive a Lincoln Corsair. The Ford side had about 3 visible employees and the Lincoln side just 1. No customers whatsoever.

Anyway, we asked if we could test drive a Lincoln Corsair and were told it wouldn’t be a problem. The salesman went to get one and bring it over to us. A few moments later he came back to get equipment to jump start one because they have been sat on the lot for so long the batteries have died.

He told us that many of their hybrids and EVs are completely dead and they have over $1.5m worth of Navigators alone.

Even with their “employee pricing” not many people are buying.

Well, I gave Parks Ford in Gainesville two tries to sell me a full size Bronco; they failed both attempts, as their silly $3995.00 "Parks Perk" mark up raised the price back up to over MSRP, even after the so called Ford employee pricing was accounted for.

IMO, that dealership can fall. It is currently under new ownership.

I'd rather buy from the auto manufacturer directly. Dealerships make their money in the service dept. A couple of sales people and a finance rep for used cars is all that's needed..
