Correct air pressure?

How accurate are the tire pressure readings that show upon the dash. I just bought a new (fairly expensive digital) tire pressure gage. After inflating the tires to 33 PSI per the gage, the dash reading was 2 lbs. higher. I know 2 lbs. is no big deal, but I wonder which is correct. Has anyone else had this situation? The tires were cold when inflated, and the car was not driven when the dash was looked at.

As tires warm up the tire pressure will increase slightly. If the indicator is within 2 lbs of your own gauge I would call that good.
