I have brought my car in three different times now. I had front suspension and all components replaced including CV joints, bushings ect… it was good for awhile. Then I took it out to the desert, and while driving through gravel, sand and washboard the clanking sound came back. It almost sounds like skid plates slamming together. It’s a metallic sound and originates from the left front of the car. Took the car apart, front bumper all the way off, all skid plates and plastics, wheels. Then inspected and righted every bolt I could. Sound is still there. Any one else have any idea of what this could be or something that I did not see? No frame or bolt or mount of any sort seems to be cracked or loose. I am at a complete loss. Thanks to all that replies!

If your Sport had a lift I would say check the sway bar end links, they clank when loose.
Strut bearings can also make noise if bad.
Other than driving, can you rock the vehicle hard side to side to see if it will make the noise you hear and help make it easier to find where it's coming from.

If I rock the car, no sounds. If I crank the wheel left or right quickly at a full stop, no sound. When driving at any speed and make sudden turns, still no sound. My initial thoughts were it’s the CV. And those ways of testing would be expose it as that problem. But still no. Only makes the sound on gravel or torn up road surfaces.

Maybe you have a rock that got in somewhere and only makes noise when bounced around on rough surfaces.

If not suspension related, another item that can cause metallic clanking noise over rough surfaces is a bad engine mount or lower torque arm (transmission.mount) there are a few people on the board that have posted about it. You can do a search.

anything new? I managed clunking noise but I still have too much noise from front left wheel, it feel like no rubber isolation between wheel and body, maybe control arm bushing or top mount but we can't find source.
