The B&O system is legit.

It utilizes the same OEM speakers, however, there are additional speakers in it, that the non B&O system doesn’t have.

The speakers are also amplified, and have a tuned audio processor in it that helps with the sound.

As far as why I didn’t get different speakers and an amplifier, I’ve got two other vehicles with fully built audio systems in them.

The audio system in the Bronco is adequate for me right now… maybe one day I’ll mess around with it more, but for now… it’s ok. Lol

I started thinking about this a bit. Are you a professional installer with 22 years of daily experience? Or, did you change your first personal car stereo 22 years ago? As for me, I pulled my car stereo about 40 years ago. (I dont think that was the first time.) I built that one into a boom-box to take on the road for my job as a roadie. That was the way I could control the tunes near me on the bus or in a hotel room. It was funny and successful. (and heavy)

Anyway, talking about me, nothing implied about you, if I were an installer, I would probably grab some free speakers I took out of someone else's car to use in my car. I think we can all guess that there may have been "poor quality control" on the units that one such person might have used in a test like your test. The question here is whether you used real replacement NEW speakers for your failed improvement? If so, maybe you can do as I did and post photos of the failing speakers. That way, people would know what to avoid.

ie. Which speakers didn't work?
I did it semi-professionally for about 10 years (had a regular full time job, did about 3-4 installs a month after work hours).

Haven’t dabbled much in audio systems for the past… oh Jeeze… 8 years, though.

Understood. I often ask myself why I started a project. (I start quite a few crazy projects). Anyway, the reason I wanted to work on the sound in this vehicle is that the Bronco Sport is now our long-distance touring/fun times car. We drove for 2 weeks to Great NorthWest, then south, and next will be an inland tour. So, there are many hours in this vehicle. Also, I pay for the SiriusXM for this car. I expect it to sound a bit better.

Hint: Start and cancel the S-XM at least once to get better pricing.

Yeah I was curious if there’s any kind of “tuning” of the drivers. My salesman and I were discussing one day after purchase the fact that Sony, B&O etc. most likely design and tune the drivers to sound a certain way in the enclosures in the vehicle to make the overall system sound as good or balanced as it can in that environment.

I wasn’t planning on keeping the Sirius after the 3 month trial but just before cancel time they offered it for 5 bucks CDN a month and charged once a month (not a year paid in full up front) so I went for it. The sound quality of satellite radio sucks because of the low bit rate and almost hurts my ears with any decent amount of volume but I discovered a channel that introduces me to new songs and artists in the genre I like so I use it for that purpose then go buy the higher quality versions of the songs on the iTunes store at a buck and change each.

I agree! At first I wasn't too thrilled with the sound, then I changed the audio settings on my phone and now it sounds perfect to me!!

Change them to anything, but change them! I don't know where they found the best deal on the cheapest speakers in the planet, but they did.
