I've owned a 2022 bronco sport badlands for a few months now. Purchased it with around 52,000 k.ms, have put another 2,000 k.ms on it
I find when I change it's drive modes, with the goat knob, for whatever reason, greatly reduce's the gas in my tank Those little vertical lines showing my fuel level just dissappear
Is this is a common thing? What's going on here?

The fuel gauge uses horizontal lines.

You are not viewing the fuel gauge. You are looking at the information screen gauge. This is controlled and configured by the buttons on the right side of the steering wheel.

Your right, I ment the horizontal lines, not the m.p.h, the gas mileage, wasn't in the bronco when I made the post, finished a drive and keep noticing this issue

I've manly just used sport and slippery. I realized with sport it will use more gas, but it seems to burn a ton of gas in slippery as well, even though I feel the less power in that mode. Sometimes just scrolling through the different modes momentarily I notice the gas decreases. I have been driving in cold weather lately if that matters
Think I'll manly try to stick with normal mode. Was just wondering if others have noticed something like this

I use normal 80% of time and sport slippery for remaining. Over last 7000 miles been averaging 28mpg in Michigan. If you are using remote start to let car warm up that will also impact mileage. I have an OBX with 1.5l. You have bigger engine so won’t get as much. What is you avg based on the different trip screens?

I have a 25 Bad Land Sport with the 2L. I'm averaging 24 mph regardless of mode. Like you, I run normal about 80%. I only use slippery when the Michigan roads are, well, slippery. Sport mode is fun for occasional shenanigans.

I'll have a look at the trip summary screen once I figure out how to get it back up on the screen. Had the battery replaced last week due to the recall inspection, haven't figured how to get that information back up. I'm aware of the screen setting's button, on the options the trip is selected but now showing
Still adjusting to the learning curve of newer vehicle technology, I'm going from a 2015 jeep patriot
Overall loving the bronco so far

You should test it out at the pump and see if you're actually losing a meaningful amount of gas. Would be curious what your findings are, but the digital stuff can be inaccurate, especially over short distances.

Yes, now that I've learn more about the screen, how to get what I want it to show, the functions of trip 1, trip 2, i'll reset them at the pump, try a tank switching drive modes, try one not, see the difference in gas k.ms/miles, then report back

I also have a Badlands, I typically use normal mode 99% of the time. I usually don't switch Goat Modes or lock the drive system unless I start loosing forward momentum. The drive system is intelligent enough to figure out most situations.
When I see my MPG drop off is when hooning around in sport mode doing pure city driving or when really off roading on trails with hills or driving in sand.

This is what slippery mode does, it will feel like you have less power available as the system is trying to maximize traction. I wouldn't arbitrarily use slippery mode unless conditions warrant its use.

G.O.A.T. Modes - Slippery

Slippery

For less than ideal road conditions such as snow or ice covered roads. You can use this mode for crossing terrain where loose, wet or slippery materials covers a firm surface. Slippery mode lowers throttle response and optimizes shifting for slippery surfaces.
The rear differential lock feature is available in slippery mode. When enabled it is engaged below 15 mph (24 km/h).
Note: Do not use this mode on dry, hard pavement. This could produce some vibration, driveline bind up, and potential excessive tire and vehicle wear depending on the four-wheel drive mode selection.

For more aggressive performance use Sport mode, be aware if the front wheels are not pointed straight and you punch it the Badlands will go where ever its pointed very quickly.

Sport

For sporty driving with improved performance handling and response. This mode increases accelerator pedal response and provides a sportier steering feel. The powertrain system holds onto lower gears longer, helping your vehicle accelerate faster. The steering optimizes for higher effort with more kick-back. The engine sound enhances when in sport mode.
