Cargo area light

This will probably end up being a stupid question, but I've tried a number of things and also scoured the manual and I can't figure out what this fixture on the right side of the cargo area is supposed to do. I've never seen it lit up no matter what I try. Any ideas?

that is a tie down hook.

Mine comes on with the rest of the interior lights when the switch by the sunglasses holder is set to on.

You are my freaking HERO. I didn’t realize the interior light switch had been toggled to off, and voila, not only does the cargo area light come on, it’s like a whole new world when I open the dang door now ;-)
