I purchased a used 2021 Badlands a few weeks ago. One thing that is puzzling to me and I wondered if anyone has any info. on it, is that after opening and closing the door (whether the car was just driven or not), and when there is no key nearby, such as being parked in the garage, you will hear intermittent clicking noises that almost sounds like the doors are being locked and unlocked multiple times. You can't miss it, it isn't quiet. I haven't paid attention yet to how long it lasts, but I I have walked into my garage and it was making those sounds many times.
Does anyone have any experience with this and is it any sort of issue I need to be concerned with? At this point, it is just sort of annoying. Thanks!!!

My BB makes all manner of noises when the doors are unlocked. My 2016 F-150 used do it as well just not as often. I just assumed it’s some kind of self test of the active shutters, headlight fans, etc.

It's just asking to make sure you want to turn it off and put it to bed for the night.

Seriously, your car has a number of electronic features that never completely shut down, especially communication modules that call home to momma (that's how your FordPass app "knows" so much about your car). The noises you hear are completely normal for this car.

Thanks! Good to know. I've had 7 different cars in my time and this is my first Ford but have not seen that with them. I appreciate it! As long as I don't have to worry, I'm good. :)

@Mark S. could be right but since I am MUCH smarter than him, I’m guessing this is more accurate to what you are experiencing:
Ok "smart guy," you failed to actually post whatever it was you meant to include and/or attach to your post. Or I'm too dumb to actually see it...

You’re never patient!!!!!

Old guys need a couple extra minutes. For, um, posting attachments.

I absolutely love mine but darn I'm camping all the time and I have to say it's crazy annoying how much this car hums and clicks. I'm always in remote places so it's dead quiet. Every single time I open or close a door it goes on for about 5 to 10 minutes humming away. I have my interior lights shut off. I was told there's a fan in the headlights? Why does it have to go on every time I open a door? ?? I thought the fob might have something to do with it communicating and I've even put it in a faraday pouch but it's still the same. It makes me concerned that all this computer stuff while the car is off will run the battery down. Could that happen? I'm coming from a 19 year old Nissan Exterra that technologically wise was super basic - which I loved. Please bring keys back and less computerized stuff. ?????

The BS has way too much electrical stuff going on all the time. I've slept in mine, and just opening the door to get some ventilation turned the lights on for way too long. And later when it got cold, and I closed the doors, it was just as bad. And both times the boulders rolled. Ridiculous.

Yes, it will run down your battery. I do mostly short drives, and in the winter, I found I had to charge my battery every week or two. When I'm in the backcountry, I carry a jump starter.

I have always carried a battery pack but with this car I'm glad I do. You can shut your interior lights off. It's just below your rear view mirror. The lights won't go on when you open a door but you will have to hear everything else. I really love my car but I hate the electronic stuff.

Unfortunately, you can't get a new car today without all kinds of electronic stuff (last car I could get w/out power seats, power locks, power windows -- forget the touch screens, etc -- was in 1986), unless you can find a Skoda or Yugo on some Eastern European car lot.

Very funny! Well done. And most appropriate.

Oh, . . . and mine makes noises, like a squirrel just heard me coming when I touched the door handle to unlock and took off scrambling. Even when I return home, shut down and park in my carport but I am still sitting in the vehicle for a couple of minutes there are noises under the dash, under the hood.
