For anyone that must drive in snow & ice, dedicated winter tires are the way to go. The Michelin X-Ice is one of the best (if not the best).I always use a "winter tire" not a three peak but a true winter tire.... I have Michelin X-Ice Snow...best tire i have used.
Before my wife and I retired, I had winter tires for all of our vehicles -- and I was glad I did. There are any number of tire tests that show the difference they make.
Now that we're retired, we can wait until the roads are cleared so winter tires are not a must have. The Michelin Cross Climate 2 is a good "all-weather" tire. A notch below the X-Ice, but can be left on year-round.
