I always use a "winter tire" not a three peak but a true winter tire.... I have Michelin X-Ice Snow...best tire i have used.
For anyone that must drive in snow & ice, dedicated winter tires are the way to go. The Michelin X-Ice is one of the best (if not the best).

Before my wife and I retired, I had winter tires for all of our vehicles -- and I was glad I did. There are any number of tire tests that show the difference they make.

Now that we're retired, we can wait until the roads are cleared so winter tires are not a must have. The Michelin Cross Climate 2 is a good "all-weather" tire. A notch below the X-Ice, but can be left on year-round.

Today was the first time that I've driven my Bronco Sport Badlands on black ice. It's extremely squirrely! You can feel that you're going to spin out if you just steer wrong at all. Has anyone else experienced this? I just have Continental tires on it so they aren't the best for these conditions. Any tire suggestions, or just slow way down and no quick steer action?
I dont know what car or vehicle is not squirrly on ICE..............

I also have the stock Pirellis on my 21 Badlands and live in southern Ontario so Iā€˜ve driven in snow (not this winter as we didn’t get any) with no issues whatsoever.
And you may never, but you really should have a dedicated winter tire. I would not have my loved ones sitting above anything less.
Nor my ass for that matter.

Common sense needs to always prevail, after all it is just rubber, but slow down don’t oversteer, and the tires will help a lot if they are the right ones and still with a good thread life.

Anyone who must drive in snow should have winter tires. For light snow a 3PMSF rated "all-weather" tire like the Michelin Cross Climate 2 (CC2) is acceptable, but a winter tire like the Michelin X-Ice is better.
