While you hate to hear it, it's pretty common across all vehicles and brands - it's just most of them go directly into the bodyshop and get fixed up before you ever see them.
I bought a new F-150 in 1999. In 2003 I was in the market for a Ranger FX4. I took the truck to CarMax to see if they would pay more than the dealer was offering. CarMax showed me convincing evidence of the passenger side front fender being replaced. They said based on my denial of a wreck, plus no police report of a wreck, the repair was done before I bought the truck. So, yeah, it happens.

Our BS is somewhere between Lexington, KY and Columbia, SC, ultimately to be delivered to a small town dealer in NC. We called the dealer last week to get the railcar number, so our salesperson looked up that info while on the phone. He read the details of the railroad schedule, but then said, "Your vehicle is marked "bodyshop", which usually means there could be some damage in transit. He was really vague about it.

I grit my teeth everytime I think about this, as we have waited for this car since October 28, 2021. Now, we have no idea what to expect. We need to make sure one of us is at the dealer as the car gets unloaded to see it and take photos, I guess.

Anyone ever have this occur to your new vehicle? Also, is there any way to track a truck delivery once the car is loaded and on the road? The target auto depot where the car will leave the rail is called Dixiana in Columbia, SC.
Have you taken delivery yet? Do you know what the damage was?

My wife (who works as an auto transport claims administrator) says that this indicates that the vehicle was damaged during the rail transport, and the vehicle will be fixed in the rail yard “sickbay”.

Be prepared to thoroughly inspect the vehicle prior to acceptance.
