We own both and love both in different ways. They really are apples and oranges, the Bronco is a off road truck, the BS is a SUV, both have a place and fill a segment of the market. There are many in the Bronco forum who deride the fact that Ford called the BS a Bronco since the only thing they have in common is the name but I've always contended that it was great marketing on Ford's part, as someone said who would really run out and buy a Escape Sport? The BS is now outselling the Escape.

Yup, I agree completely. Serves two completely different markets. The sport probably makes more sense for most. I know it does for me but then no one accused me of having too much sense. I ordered both. Just happened to get the sport first. Probably by a long shot. But, when trying to compare this or the Gen 6 to the Gen 1 makes even less sense. I get that most people on the forum have probably never been in an original Gen 1 so no real way to compare. I’ve been in every generation and they all had their pluses and minuses. The Gen 6 comes the closest to emulating the looks of the original. But that’s really still just the looks. The Gen 1 was a real hard driving off road vehicle.

OMG! The stories I could tell about the original Maverick. We had one at work. Field work.....
A girlfriend of mine got T-boned in her old Maverick. A chevy Biscayne hit her doing 55 dead center of the passenger door.
She walked away.

Spot on. For me the sport was available when my lease ended, and with adult kids...it fit my life. It does everything my 1979 bronco did with far better fuel efficiency, smaller footprint, more tech, and a better designed system. Is it as powerful? No...but I don't NEED that kind of power. I live in a suburban community in Michigan. I travel to remote areas for hiking and outdoor activity. I don't need a "big" bronco for ego. I don't want a jeep having ridden in my sister's four door...it's a rough ride and not an enjoyable seating configuration. The full bronco is riddled with growing pains and design struggles and may take a few model years to break in. I'm more than happy with my baby.

Facts. I'm not down with spending $85k for a lifestyle fashion accessory.

My BS is my 50th bday present, so I'm right there with you on giving no poops about other people's opinions.
Haha, Ford received my order the day after I turned 60. Granted, it took 4 months to get to me, but I’m loving it. So much better on gas then the F150 Screw.

That’s where I found this short take on the first one to be quite interesting. Even in middle age I’m only old enough to have spent any time in 80s/90s models (Gen 3/4/5 which really are much the same, and the II) so as unfamiliar as anyone else with the first.
