The 2.7 Eco Boost should run pretty strong in the Ranger how Do you like it? I had the 2.7 Eco Boost in the 2015 F-150 4X4 Super Cab I had with the 3.55 Gears in it that Truck ran a 14.53@92 or 93 MPH in the 1/4 mile and was Bone Stock no mods very under rated engine IMO.

I really like the 2.7 in the Ranger. It's smoother and quieter at idle and around town than the 2.3, and noticeably stronger at higher RPM's and under strain than the 2.3 as well. The downsides are fuel economy being a bit less than the 2.3 and weight being a bit more than the 2.3, but both are concessions I'm happy to make for the power, civility, and smoothness that the 2.7 brings to the table. If you plan to do work with your truck, the 2.7 really feels like the perfect engine for the Ranger. If you like to level your truck so it looks good while doing nothing, maybe the 2.3 is the right choice :)

Hi All,

I have decided to buy a second vehicle, something more for me than the family. I want something that I can go off-road with. I’m not going to be doing any extreme off-roading, I just want to be able to take off into the woods, explore logging roads, etc. I really like the look of the Bronco and love the modular approach to the vehicles and how customizable they are. But I had real trouble finding the vehicle I wanted, at the price I wanted. So I have become frustrated and have given up on a Bronco and need to move to plan B... a Ford Ranger. A Ranger would give me the same frame and engine as the Bronco and I could get a Ranger with the FX4 Off-Road Package and save 10K over the price of a similar Bronco.

Or maybe I should go for the Bronco Sport? It would probably do everything I need and be more car like. But I'm unsure how the Bronco Sport really is for off-road. And the Ranger and Bronco Sport I am having trouble comparing them. I have driven both and they are very different. I currently drive an Escape (my second). So a Sport would be plenty familiar. I'm just not sure if that is good, bad or neutral.

If I sound indecisive, its because I am. The Bronco, Bronco Sport and Ranger all have pros and cons and I keep changing my mind. I am really uncertain which route to go and would really appreciate any advice people who have a Bronco Sport could offer.

Thanks
I had trouble as well as finding the vehicle I wanted (only 1 could be had), at a price I could live with. What I wanted was an F150 reg cab, short box 4WD, V8 stick. I'm in NY, it was in CA and twice what I paid for my BS PLUS added shipping. After almost 2 years with my BS, I don't think I settled, I'm happy I got her

Ranger Raptor for me..
I do like the Raptor except for one thing. Well, one thing beyond what I already don't care for in the current gen Rangers. With the Raptor you lose about 2,000 pounds of tow capacity from the other trims, which is a pretty big negative for my needs were I to look at a truck.

It all comes down to what you really want, I drive "19 Ranger XLT 4x4, it gets decent gas mileage, rides good for a trucks and the bed is nice to have. My wife has a "24 BS Heritage, it is fun to drive the mileage is a lot better than my Ranger (like 10 mpg better), so when we travel its usually in the BS, the BS is also a more comfortable ride and carry's more stuff inside out of the weather. Our kids 39, 36 also prefer to ride in the back seat of the of the BS, but they loved all the rear seat room in my old F150. good luck in deciding but base it on your needs first, wants second. I don't regret either and glad I have them both.

I bought a 2dr Bronco BaseSquatch, but now my wife is really into the Bronco Sport. She also can't drive the manual Bronco. I'm torn between a Sport and a Maverick right now, but unfortunately (in her words) the Maverick is "totally not as cute".
