This is my First yr with a block heater. Does it stay clipped into the hood or does it poke out and then in the summer tucked in again? My concern is that someone comes along with too much time on there hands and Jimmie’s the hood free.

On my 2004 Chevy Silverado with the Duramax diesel engine, the plug to the block heater was tucked in by one of its battery trays. In the winter months, I would leave it there until needed. When I plugged it into the extension cord, it was pulled out just past the front grill. After I would start the engine, I'd open the hood and tuck it back into the battery tray area, to not tempt anyone. I kept the extension cord under the back seat.

Looks to be a much different arrangement then what I stated with the Chevy. Is it a standard plug receptacle with the cap removed?

I modified the block heater cord on my 94 F350 diesel and my 97 F250 diesel to terminate out on the bumper (with a spring loaded cover for better accessibility. No need to open the hood!
