After losing interest in getting a big bronco I’m thinking about upgrading from a big bend to badlands…

has anyone done this or looked into it? What would the pros and cons be besides the obvious ones like the advanced 4wd system, gas mileage, etc? Is it worth the trade up or will I not notice enough of a difference ?

I don’t think you would look back , both are very good . The 2.0 with the drive system and suspension makes it very capable on and off rode .Both are fun to drive .

Yes. I sold my 21 Big Bend to CarMax for a huge profit and ordered a loaded 22 Badlands.

Pros: all the premium features I avoided in 21 because they were bundled with the moonroof I don't want; bigger motor; more capable 4WD; front camera; improved sound system (the BB default is bad); full-size spare; leather-wrapped steering wheel; reset the odometer to 0.

Cons: ~15% reduction in fuel economy based on my Big Bend MPG and the Badlands reported MPG here and elsewhere; higher interest rate on the loan; waiting several months for delivery; questions about the long-term durability of the premium 'leather' seats compared to the cloth ones.

Edit: The 1.5L on the Big Bend is adequate but at the end of the day it's a three-banger with a turbo. At highway speeds, I never had any issues with power or acceleration, and I was impressed with the fuel economy I frequently achieved. But around town, in the 30-50 mph range, I really noticed the engine's limitations, especially when encountering hills. Had CarMax not handed me a bunch of cash, I doubt I would've exchanged it for a 22 Badlands, though. The Big Bend was fine for the roads I drive.

I was lucky that one of the Ford dealers in my area had 4 bronco sports on the lot for sale. I test drove an Outer Banks with the premium options added and a Badlands with no added options, not even a hitch, but both were price with about $150 difference. The Badlands had more get'up to it and it was enough for me to not consider the Outer Banks with all the creature comforts it came with.
Later I learned it came with upgraded components and features so I was getting more than just a bigger engine. I felt I made the right decision.

I was interested in a BL but couldn't find one to test drive so I test drove either an OB or BB and was pretty disappointed. I almost decided to get something else but I got lucky and found a BL to test drive. It was a pretty big difference. BUT I have no idea how the first BS I drove was outfitted, meanwhile the BL was loaded.

I originally ordered the Outer Banks with all the added luxuries… But less than two weeks later I changed my order to the Badlands… after talking to many mechanics?

If you do off-road or you feel a lack of power I'll go for it. Pretty sure you'll notice the difference on the motor. I didn't even want to test drive the 2.0 knowing I'd felt in love with it.

I'm really happy with my BB but only had it for a couple of days. Felt just right to me, being used to drive the 2.3 Ecoboost Mustang I know I don't need the extra power.
