I carry a NOCO GB40 jumper and use a Deltran Battery Tender Plus. I don't see the need to add an onboard charger unit under the hood and cut a hole in the bumper trim for a plug but that's me.

I agree, as you live in South Carolina. It gets way COLDER here in Minnesota. So having it built in so to speak is a plus for me.
