Because I live out in the desert/mountains, I can get right to the BLM/NM dirt within a few miles of the house , so I most often “air down” before leaving the house, then use the air compressor in the garage to “air up” after I get back.
However, I am also often driving over pavement to further off-roading destinations, and have to do the air-down/up at the intersection of road and trail.
For that, I use the ARB CKMP12 portable air compressor and JACO Flopro tire inflator w/ gauge. Both recently purchase off Amazon. Note I already had the equivalent Smittybuilt portable (from my Jeep Wrangler past) but just never liked it much. I really like the ARB. I got the Smittybuilt for price point, but now, for me, the ARB is worth it. Satisfied with the JACO too, easy read, fast air down and up.
