If having the work performed at the dealer the dealer will charge full retail price for parts replaced. Ford retail price for the compressor with clutch is just shy of $800 alone without labor.
Depending on what the problem is with the AC system, example compressor leaks will not hold a charge or did the compressor self destruct and send shrapnel thru the system will determine if other components are also needed.
Unfortunately the repair will be on the costly side.
If you go the independent route you will save some money, I would check around to see who has the best reviews and compare cost and what parts they use.
Just look forward to the end result, having your Sport back to normal.
