3D printed phone mount I made

Heya.

I *was* using a Belkin brand phone mount that uses the air vents, and got frustrated with it flopping about since the BS vents are vertically mounted, and thus any weight (like a phone mounted on them) will cause them to rotate with the slightest left/right turn of the vehicle.

So , I went about designing a clip that would kinda clip over parts of the console facia. This is what I came up with:
I chose to have a simple 17mm ball mount on it , but I also made a blank if you wanted to go with some other interface.

Cheers. Thanks! I tried that as well, I have an iPhone , and I use car play, which is wired. And until apple decides to allow CarKit to run HomeKit automations like leave home , and arrive home, I always have to fish my phone out of the cubby , unlock it , and run those. Also , The wireless charger in this Bronco Sport seems a bit wonky, It starts and stops , and seems to get confused.

I added it to thingiverse, but apparently there is 24 wait for new users to add stuff.

here is the magsafe adapter I wound up going with:

Its on sale for like 19$ now.
The one is the pictures was a ratty old belkin magsafe adapter that I had to modify to work with the standard ball mount.
stl file attached. change the extention to .stl from .txt.


I will post a link to the thingiverse thing once the let me publish it .

Printed the mount yesterday. I'm amazed how great it fit! I installed it and it clicked into place as if it was meant for it. I ordered the Magsafe mount you recommended, but the seller ended up cancelling my order for some reason.

I ended up going with this one from Amazon since it supports at 17mm ball mount. Should be getting it in a couple of days.

theirs looks pretty good, nice and neat, and metal. Looks like it attaches to the vehicle in the same way (small one way lip inserted into the gaps in the facia )

I guess the phone holder is an attachment to the mount thing vs the ball mount I put on mine?

theirs would likely hold up to more abuse, being made of metal vs PLA.

I’m curious to see how mine holds up in the Alabama heat during summer, I got my BS in November, so it remains to be seen.
