If you lift the hood of a 2025, you will see some padding right at the firewall. Pull it back and you will see two bolts. Remove them and the whole unit just slides out. Very easy to do. I don't know if earlier models have the threaded bolt holes though.

I checked my 21 and I assume the two bolts you take out to remove the assembly are the two circled in yellow below?
If so, the pre-25's don't have that entire black bracket circled in green below. I think this, along with whatever those bolts thread into(?) are part of the components that would need to be ordered if someone was going to do the retrofit.

You are right. The two bolts in yellow thread through the green bracket and come out near the door hinge. I don't know if the hinge assemblies are the same and if you have room for the bracket though.@JPtapt Great pics. Thanks!
