I have been having a problem for almost a year where the instrument cluster display does not turn on when I start my BS. This was a rare issue for the first several months, but for the past few weeks, it's almost constant and completely random as to when it works and when it doesn't. I've even seen the display turn off seconds after I start the engine.

I tried to at least get this documented before the warranty ran out while the display was not working, but my local dealership (not the one I buy from) refused to even document the problem unless I would immediately leave the BS with them until they had time to look at it and that it might be up to 2 weeks before they could even look at it. It's one of those problems that would be hard to diagnose if it's not actually happening at the time ... although now it almost always is just a black screen.

I'm old enough to remember driving without all these spiffy digital displays ... I can see the speedometer, gas gauge and tachometer, and the cruise control will still work. But if there's any sort of warning lights, I won't know ... and that makes this dangerous.

I've tried disconnecting the battery for 15 minutes (my dealership's suggestion after the first time this happened) with no success, and the local dealership did do a reset through the SYNC settings. I also recently update the SYNC software via a USB drive because it had not updated automatically. None of this has solved the problem.

I have searched here and see that others have had the same issue, but I don't really see any answers, and I need help before I have to evacuate from another hurricane in the middle of the night while the display's not working.

Hey there. Can you please send over a message with your VIN and estimated mileage? I would like to take a closer look at your instrument cluster concerns on my end.

I don’t know what controls the Center display in the instrument cluster but others with similar issue had to have the entire instrument cluster replaced.
The APIM controls the 8” display but I do not think the APIM controls the Center display in the instrument cluster.

Perhaps you can convince Ford that the dealership was unable to document your case under warranty because they wanted the car 2 weeks minimum (which that already is unacceptable) because you needed use of the car. You can get a case created by calling Ford at +1 (866) 436-7332.

A year ago our 22 BB instrument cluster went dark. Completely dark. No speedo, no tach or any other info. It was at the dealership we bought it from for 3 weeks. They replaced it asserting it was defective. No issues since.
