12V outlet for a cooler on long trips?

Do these coolers keep things cold while not powered? I mean do they act like a normal ice chest?

I don't know if I'd trust it for very perishable things but would it hold temperature for say overnight while I'm asleep?

I’ve used them many times over the years. While not as effective as a styrofoam cooler, they do stay cool for awhile as long as you don’t open them all the time.

If you are buying a new portable refrigerator, get one with a battery. It will run for a couple of days without external power. Depending on Temps of course.

Good point. The ones I used were about 20+ years old. I hauled around one of those boat anchor rechargables.

I have been using ours on our road trip, and in the near 100-degree heat of the Moab desert, it would be 54-56 degrees in the morning after being in the back of the OB overnight. It would be back to the 44-degree setting after an hour of driving, I did get the optional cover for extra insulation. Say good bye to the ice dance.
