I love the PTC heater in the Bronco Sport. I don't have to idle the engine to get heat out. Once I'm at the end of my road, 1.8km away I have warm air blowing. It's similar to electric vehicles providing instant heat.
A bit of an old thread. Have you resolved the issue? My BS has just started doing the same. The only difference is that I use the keypad to unlock the vehicle.
You can do what I do and my wife does with her Escape. Leave the fob in the center console. Use the keypad to unlock the doors and lock the doors. That's better than carrying a fob or a key.

I would take the retainer nut or bolt to Home Depot to the hardware aisle. They usually have the template where you can try out and see if it's metric or imperial and what size. That is usually what I do when I need a nut or bolt but am not sure what I have as the mating end.
