No doubt. But I’d love to see both power plants going through the same trials for comparison purposes. IMHO, it would be an interesting exercise to shed light on where the Badlands really excels, and where the 1.5s keep up.
I keep looking for, and not finding, a comparison test or review or off-road challenge between the Badlands and other trim levels. I'd love to see how the 1.5 and 2.0 drivetrains compare over the same terrain. For instance, a Badlands v. Big Bend at the TFL Offroad X ranch trail. Has anyone seen...
But, I probably really can’t. I’ll try, let me know what you think!
In a previous post, I mentioned the Good Idea Fairy steering me north. Well, here we are deep into winter in Vermont. At different points during the season there was snow, sleet, freezing rain. Example A, for the prosecution...
At time of original posting, it hadn't risen above freezing for a couple of weeks. Since then, I can see the correlation of clattering dragon teeth to the rise and fall of the temperature.
Remote start helps, too. When I bought this thing (in Central Florida) I thought remote start and heated...
Late to the party!
First pic is the first good snowfall in Vermont, early Dec.
Second pic is the mid-January snowfall
First video is driving near Manchester, Vermont, on the evening of 16 January. Bronco Sport (and I) delivering an older lady, who lost confidence in her Cadillac XT6, to...
Oh, I don't beat on the beast. I've discovered my appreciation for the remote start and automatic climate control goes up as temps go down. Even with a healthy (or unhealthy, depending on perspective) warm-up, the engine makes a fair amount of noise under very modest acceleration, until the...
'23 Heritage, 1.5L Dragon, 15000 miles.
As my wanderings have taken me to the cold, snowy North-East, I think I'm hearing something different. When the engine is cold at first start in the morning I'm definitely hearing a clack or clatter under any acceleration. As the engine warms up the...
Have you heard of the Good Idea Fairy? The one who whispers quietly into your ear ... "it's ok, you should do this"? The Good Idea Fairy and I are, apparently, good friends. After luring me into driving from Florida to Moab (and back), the whispers started up again pretty quickly. You see, Lotus...
No, that's the cheapo Cabelas 10' roof box I picked up at Bass Pro a couple of days before I hit the road. And, it is cheapo, but it did the job. There were a LOT of bug parts inside the box at the end of the trip, but nothing got wet when I drove through rain on the highway.
Ha! Yours for the taking. I put it in Sand to disable traction control going up the ascent face. Otherwise, on all the other roads and obstacles over a few days out there it stayed in Normal or Sport. Sport kept the revs a little higher for easier throttle control for that (not) massive rock...
Yes, you are correct. Basically a gussied up Big Bend.
1.5L Dragon powerplant, 8(?) spd automatic, just the two GOATy modes - slippery and sand, the basic rear diff, OEM tires.
I tend to keep tires a few PSI over OEM recommendation, and do so with the Sport, especially for long highway rides...
I think a couple of other data points would help fill in the picture- average speed for each tank, altitude change (hilliness?).
Speed seemed to be the worst offender, and I think westbound = generally uphill = worse mileage. But that’s spec.
I didn't hit either of those, no. If it had been just a little warmer, just a couple of weeks earlier in the year, I would have stayed and done a lot more sightseeing. As it was, I got to scratch the surface of all the greatness that is Moab. Without scratching up the Panda Express.
I'll get...
