The official document that was sent to Ford dealers (see post #62) mentioned this is not supposed to be a mobile repair:
Which again, I think it is silly, but that is what it says. I am guessing some dealers are not reading this carefully and offering mobile service for it anyway.
The dual zone a/c option piqued my interest. I wonder if all if all it needs is a different HVAC for that to work? Time to start digging around.
Edit: It's been done. Time to start my next project on the BS...
Heated seats wiring diagrams.
Enabling the heated seats themselves is done in the HVAC here. My 2021 with heated seats has an 8 there for intergrated front heated seats. On these vehicles, the heated seats are turned on using the HVAC and not the touchscreen, so there is no need to enable...
Got your message. Looks like the 4WD/AWD module took a crap.
The fault type of 01 means general curcuit/internal failure and the fault type of 71 says the actuator is stuck. I try to refrain from providing remote diagnosis for things, but in this case, it seems pretty obvious that it's a bad...
There are other things you can try if you're the FAFO type, but some things have very easy and inexpensive solutions where it is not worth racking your brain over it. I just use these in my vehicles. I want the seatbelt minder to work for when my kids are in our vehicles...
Try this from the 2023 Explorer spreadsheet:
My 2023 shows this:
e,
Assuming yours also has a 6 there, I would change it from 6 to a 0 to disable everything in that location and then reboot the IPC from the wrench icon menu.
I'll dig around to see what I can find. I used the spreadsheet for the Maverick and the Explorer for these trucks as they seem to be the closest thing out there to them.
What speadsheet were you looking at?
Better than any theory I can come up with, but Ford has been sending IPC updates via OTA to Sync 4 vehicles for 4-5 years now and it has been very efficient. The IPC is connected to the network via both CAN and ethernet, so the files write while the vehicle is on and running. The chances of an...
It depends on whether they have to update other modules first to get the IPC update to release.
As far as DIY with FDRS, I am not sure. You can update the module yourself to satisfy the recall for sure, but recording it as completed may not be possible according to this excerpt from the dealer...
You may just have to jack it up, remove one of the front tires and the splash shield to see if the wiring is there. It doesn't look too complicated to do.
Assuming the wiring is there, the trickier part will be to enable the config in the BCM, IPC and anywhere else needed for them to actually work.
Many people on different Ford forums and Facebook groups have been posting about this and then it magically starts working again a few days later. Impossible to say that will be the case for you, but just FYI.
Well, they added the recall to OASIS. It is starting to show up on VINs. Seems like I was wrong and the update may be ready (or close to being ready) to roll out already.
Dealer bulletin calls for updating the IPC (no surprise there). It also mentions to technicians to update the GWM, APIM...
Oh, I am sure they will. The least expensive and fastest way to roll this out to vehicles will be via an OTA. However, based on my experience with these things, it will be months before the new update is ready and starts to roll out. So don't hold your breathe waiting for the update. 🤣
The other option is to side-load the IPC software with FORScan, but you'd still need a battery power supply and you'd have to wait for the software to be released to be able to source the files. Side-loading an IPC without FDRS takes 6 hours to flash since it is done via CAN bus and not with a...
