It took over 8 months of back-and-forth between 2 dealers and at last, last week we got the grinding RDU replaced. I asked the rep. if we had also gotten the updated vent hose and they stated that we got the latest and greatest of everything, so yeah...
Pretty typical for Ford. Even my 2001 Escape's front seat mounts looked like that. Will not be an issue for the life of the vehicle, it just looks nasty and kinda takes away the 'warm and fuzzy' of your new ride.
Possible shredding/slipping accessary drive belt due to faulty water pump leaking coolant onto said belt. Check your coolant tank level. Either way, a trip to the dealer seems in order.
