Well, this is interesting. I did a 3 hour drive today, HVAC in auto mode with recirc on and it never switched recirc off. So it definitely does not automatically turn off all of the time.

That article does not reference the Bronco Sport, which uses cylinder deactivation when cruising.

It‘s not that it purposely speeds up, it’s that gravity causes an increase in speed. Does your car have adaptive cruise? IIRC only models with adaptive cruise will brake when going downhill.

Every newer vehicle I’ve driven lately does this. It seems most manufacturers are moving to this type of HVAC logic.
