We are having the same discussion in our home about the gloss black trim and one of the window rubber seals being scuffed - all on the right side only. Part of me wants to call the dealer and say these were damaged... part of me would rather let it go because in my experience once a tech starts...
I just keep a 400w inverter in the vehicle for those uses. My ZR2 had a 2000w inverter that I wired to plugs in the bed - kind of like how Ford is offering on the F150s now.
For a vehicle this small I don't see myself using more than 400w.
That is my concern as well which is why a roof NMO hasn’t been done yet for me. The only way I could do a roof one would be with an expensive Sti-Co or Panorama antenna that replaces the AM/FM shark fin with an LMR antenna... but that usually causes more issues as well trying to retain full...
But allegedly the Ford Escapes had the same feature in some trim packages and people learned that all Escapes had the windshield and it was a ForScan coding away - so now I wonder what surprises we will learn.
There seems to be room - but making a mounting solution would be the interesting part.
West Mountain Radio makes a kit (typically for radio users) where you can piggyback an "AUX" battery off the main and it will charge the AUX while the vehicle is on - but the AUX battery specifically be...
I looked and couldn't get them in view of the camera from that distance which is why I also drove to my dealer to show them instead of sending pics back and forth. They seemed to agree it was damage and not what you showed me which I have seen as well. I wanted to be "proven wrong" and be told...
The trick I’ve used is to pull the wire through the grommet and a few inches from my final pull - I throw a bead of black RTV sealant on the wire and pull it the rest of the way so the bead I just ran is in the grommet - sealing it in.
The trick works perfectly as long as you never want to pull...
Not at all! I have been respectfully vocal about it and hoping maybe Ford will eventually see enough complaints to warrant a change in the shift patterns.
I attached a couple pics - long story short the transport company messed them up while strapping the vehicle down. Seems like the transport companies are not being too attentive these days.
There is a good 4" or so (by my uncalibrated eyeball) under the passenger seat on mine - but I have the manual seats. I am looking at placing a single Motorola XTL5000 50w deck which should make it easy.
If you need battery power... you're gonna have to pierce it through the firewall like I did...
That has been one of my biggest peeves as well! Any hyper-flash with the turn signals or bulb out errors on the dash?? If this can be done with zero ForScan or ballast resistors I am tearing into mine tomorrow!
I usually pierce and then seal an existing grommet - no drilling for me.
So far my only thoughts for an antenna is an NMO to the roof. Anything else seems too difficult right now. A fender mount is going to need fabrication, and the Rigid ditch light mounts are not out yet so I cannot use them...
The dealership is awesome for service and parts, and sales were awesome. It’s once you get to the finance office they seem to be a little “typical dealer”. That’s why I’m hoping to talk to the finance manager and feel out the situation.
In the end I’d like to keep the extended warranty - but I’d...
I think I will be making that call as well. I just went to the dealership yesterday because I found all 4 of my tires were damaged on the sidewall - so I will just add that to the list of "oopsies".
I have a cable on the way, and will be borrowing a cable in the meantime. I definitely want to assist with this since there are plenty of features I know we can either program in, or add the modules later on cheaply.
Long story short: my Big Bend has all 4 tires damaged from transport which I only discovered a couple of days ago. I worked out a deal with the dealership where I will pay the differential in price between the Continentals and the Pirellis and I will get A/Ts installed - since I was on my way to...
Were yours scratched right off the lot? I just noticed it on mine yesterday in some corners and JUST left the dealer before seeing it... so now I have another issue to bring up at the service desk when I go in for my tires...
I have the same thing with the rubber trim... mine also had tire issues right off the truck. My dealer specifically is dealing with a bad transport company apparently - and I am wondering if its just poor handling being seen in some vehicles.
