  1. Question about ground clearance

Wow - that side-by-side pic makes the difference pretty clear.
  2. Outer Banks vs Badlands

I agree - unless one spends time at the track, where these numbers really matter, they don't matter. The only thing that matters in the real world are real world use-cases. For me, that includes highways with steep inclines. I've been on many where you are going highways speeds at an incline...
  3. More Evidence of FoMoCo Tightening the Screws on Dealerships.

I used to find it more frustrating than I do today. Today, it’s so much easier than it used to be to be a very informed consumer. I don’t engage in the sales process until I know exactly what I want to buy, the exact car, trim, and packages. I know exactly what they cost, and exactly what I want...
  4. What were you driving prior to your BS?

I like cars. I like big cars, I like small cars, I like fast cars and slow cars. I like coupes, sedans, hatchbacks, SUVs, trucks, motorcycles, UTVs, and even some minivans. I prefer cars with combustion engines, can handle hybrids, and it'll take me awhile yet to go electric. I've owned...
  5. Outer Banks vs Badlands

I imagine it's possible, but can't imagine a less worthwhile effort in terms of cost, hassle, and benefit. I've had rain-sensing wipers in other cars for many years now. It's kind of nice - sort of. But I often find that I want to activate them at a different cadence than the automation, or I...
  6. Outer Banks vs Badlands

well, I should qualify that it wasn’t just any 2WD. I owned a Tomcar for a few years. These are 2WD with a large dose of magic. More than once, I had to tow 4WD vehicles back down the mountain after they broke down trying to follow me on the trail. https://tomcar.com/
  7. 2022 BS Badlands Price Negotiations

not with you here. I wouldn’t pay $3,000 grand more for something because I don’t have patience for my order to come through. if enough people stopped paying these above MSRP prices, they’ll come down quickly.
  8. Brought it home last night

Yes - my experience, as well. And it really is a nice car. Expecting that this carries him safely through college and beyond, for many years. And then he’ll need to replace it someday and I hope this becomes a much loved, old, high mileage secondary car that he has for many years after that.
  9. Outer Banks vs Badlands

I believe you. And clearly there is a market for the 3 cylinder engine. I’m old enough to remember when people that had only known 6 and 8 cylinders looked at 4 cylinders suspiciously. I remember my dad wondering about a 4 cylinder’s longevity. Any such concerns were proven decades ago to be...
  10. Outer Banks vs Badlands

100% this.I keep hearing people say something along the lines of, “I didn’t go with the 2.0 because I’m not looking for a race car” or that “I don’t have a heavy foot” or something else speed related. Not a single person bought the Badlands because they plan to race it. People did buy it for...
  11. Outer Banks vs Badlands

I've done plenty of off-roading in a 2-wheel drive. You can take almost anything off-road, and for the vast majority of people, 4WD not required. But it is all relative....no question that the Badlands can go farther afield and in places you'd not want to take other BSs.
  12. Outer Banks vs Badlands

Same - for me it wasn't the trails, nor a need for speed or a heavy foot, or anything like that. It was simply a better engine that could move the car a bit more easily, with a bit more torque, and a less taxing run at highway speeds. As for the more capable off-roading capabilities, it's kind...
  13. Outer Banks vs Badlands

Agreed. This won't go anywhere because it's extremely unlikely that anybody that bought the Badlands will express regret over doing so. The end. In a thread asking which model to go with, I'd think that is a relevant data point.
  14. Outer Banks vs Badlands

To be clear, I understand that people may opt to go with the 1.5 engine and be very happy with the purchase. I'm not calling that into question. My point is pretty simple: I know many people that went with the 1.5 engine and later wished that they'd gone with the 2.0. I've never heard of...
  15. Outer Banks vs Badlands

Actually, no. My quote was, " "I wish I had the smaller engine instead of this 2.0" Nobody Ever To which, the response was, "Wrong." So I'm asking if he knows of anybody that has bought the Badlands and regretted not going with the smaller engine.
  16. Outer Banks vs Badlands

You know somebody that bought a Badlands and regretted not getting the 1.5 engine instead?
  17. Outer Banks vs Badlands

  18. Brought it home last night

Ordered in March, and got the call from the dealer yesterday. This was the first 2.0 I've been in, and real pleased with the decision to go with this engine. Off to get darker tint and actual UV protection tomorrow. My son takes it off to college in a couple of weeks. Love that he'll have...
  19. Is the moonroof history starting in 2022?

I have large panoramic moon roofs on my cars. I like to open the cover so it's a rooftop window on cloudy or rainy days, but never on bright sunny days. Bought the Bronco Sport without one and can't imagine I'll regret it. Can be nice to have, but not something to be missed.
  20. Too Many Colors?

I agree....I have an Alto Blue BL on order with the black roof. But that's just my own cup of tea.
