So my 10 year old son and I are on a generally unplanned trip around the country. Left Cooperstown NY a week ago and currently in Boulder CO. 1,900 trouble free miles so far (knock on wood!). This country is amazing and everyone should see it if they can. Bronco on brothers.....
Try an AuxBeam or similar design touch switch mounted in the center console where it works best for you. The switch is easy to install, prevents the potential for gazillions of wires in the occupants compartment, and is easy to add additional functions. Check it out.......
Mine was loosening up on one side so I simply installed a few self tapping sheet metal screws right through the scoop and hood. Seems to hold well now and I am contemplating doing the same to the other side so it matches. I may cut an actual hole in the hood too so the scoop is for reals.
I'd have to go with accidental activation theory as well. I was setting mine off so many times I thought the fob was messed up or I was. My solution was to attach the fob ( I genuinely hate that word) to a carabineer and intentionally carry the key by the carabineer. Seems to have helped.
I searched for them as well and I don't think they are a thing. I just removed the rear lettering and think it looks a lot cleaner for what it's worth. Have a great day!
